History |
Our story starts as with a band called The Excelerators who in 2005 got into the side business of backing Shawn Barker in live productions of Elvis Presley Tribute Performances. They produced a few shows before Shawn seized an opportunity to do Johnny Cash for a production company out of Minnesota
The Excelerators went about their business of performing classic rock covers when the call came from Bill Cherry in July of 2007. Wes was interested in picking up this work again, but he needed to try to find players for a group separate from The Excelerators. He placed ads and actively pursued players for this project. He eventually found drummer John Toussaint and guitarist/keyboardist, Vern Egbert. They worked up the show with Bill Cherry and Eddie Falcon, another St. Louis based Elvis Tribute Artist who was in need of good live backing.
In early 2008, the group decided to fill out the sound with another player making it a 4-piece operation when former Excelerator and keyboardist Jim Cook came on-board to give things a try. Another change was the addition of Steve Scott who replaced John Toussaint who left to pursue other opportunities.
The band started to thrive with Jim Cook, Wes Searcy, Vern Egbert and Steve Scott. A fair amount of polish was applied and shows with Bill Cherry and Eddie Falcon went off with a fair amount of success and quality.
Bill Cherry won the Ultimate Elvis Competition in August of 2009 and took to the road performing all over the US. Eddie Falcon was on hiatus from the business after a car crash. In October of 2009, Tyler James got in touch and a mutual audition was scheduled. Things went great and work was quickly scheduled with him. Once again, shows with another Elvis Tribute Artist went off with a very high level of quality.
The Busters continue to serve the St. Louis Elvis Community providing effective and extremely accurate music portrayals of the original TCB Show Band.
